It was a sunny bright day which awaited the ladies at Tiverton for the WMN Foursomes. County Captain Alison sent the first of the players away at 0930 and Vice Captain Angie took over the starting enabling Alison to take part in the competition.
132 ladies from 14 Clubs took part and when the first of the ladies returned to the Clubhouse it was 35 points that led the way posted by the Tiverton pair Maureen Postles and Marian Stevens.
Royal North Devon had an aggregate of 65 points and this remained the leading team score until the last few pairs returned to the Clubhouse.
Throughout the day the ladies, who were wearing their team uniforms gathered together in clusters of colour to eat and drink and everyone seemed to be thoroughly enjoying the day. The weather remained warm and bright throughout.
Many of the ladies were taking advantage of the live scoring on the DCLGA website, watching things unfold on their phones and tablets it did save them wearing out the carpet in the clubhouse at least.
Around 1700 Ely Walmsley and Denise Baggott from Holsworthy came in with 36 points as did the mother and daughter pairing of Abbie and Amanda Moyes from Tiverton, they had a better back nine however than Ely and Denise.
This score was sufficient to put the Tiverton team in the winning position with 71 points.
At 1740 the prize giving took place and County Captain Alison was very proud to present the Western Morning News Cup to the Tiverton team.
