Devon County Ladies Golf Association

DEVONGOLF - FORWARD TOGETHER

The 1st April saw Devon become the 7th county in England to merge. Golf in Devon is now run by one body - known as DevonGolf - and men and ladies are represented on the board and committees.

After extensive consultation with clubs throughout 2017 and support from England Golf, Devon Golf Ltd (DGL - the men) and Devon County Ladies' Golf Association (DCLGA - the ladies) became one governing body for golf in Devon.

To ensure fair representation on boards and committees, there is a minimum gender requirement of 30%. Whilst in future most board positions will be elected, to start the process the following people are directors of the newly merged body - most of whom have been recently very involved in the DGL or DCLGA.

The Joint Presidents are Carolyn Maynard and Richard Pascoe. Both were Vice Presidents of their respective organisations. All other members of boards and committees on both the DGL and DCLGA stepped down from their positions and the new board of directors is made up as follows:

Nick James -  Chairman

Yvonne Alford - Club Services

Chris Eddowes - Finance

Nathan Gilpin - Competitions

Wendy Stanbury - Development

Roger Worthington - Performance

Liz Turner - co-opted (handicapping)

Each director will head a sub-committee to assist in carrying out their duties.

We are holding meetings thoughout April in the East, South and West areas and are hoping that the North will soon fix a date for Yvonne and Wendy to come and update clubs on the way forward.

Our flag with the new DevonGolf logo flew for the first time at Downes Crediton on 17th April - a new logo and a new way forward - together - for golfers in Devon.
