SHEELAH CREASY SEMI FINALS
Libbaton Golf Club - Monday, 11th September

It was a challenging day for the Creasy Semi Finals at Libbaton – very windy and quite chilly with rain on and off all day.

Okehampton played Saunton in the first semi-final and proved to be the stronger team on the day, winning 5 games.

Fingle Glen played Axe Cliff and there were 2 wins apiece in the first 4 matches but then Fingle Glen won matches 5 and 6 to take the semi-final win.  So Okehampton will play Fingle Glen in the final – a repeat of last year’s final line-up.

PRESIDENT'S TROPHY SEMI FINALS
Friday, 8th September - Staddon Heights Golf Club

The President’s Trophy semi-finals day dawned wet and windy, with the threat of storms in the afternoon. However, prayers were answered at Staddon Heights when the rain stopped shortly before the first tee time and, apart from occasional drizzle, then held off until just before the end of the day’s play when the rain started lashing down again.

The first match was Thurlestone versus Dainton Park and the ladies set out with great enthusiasm. Good golf was played in the sometimes drizzly, always windy conditions, with Dainton Park taking the win.

The second semi-final was very unusual as both teams were from the same club - East Devon 1 v East Devon 2 - so no need for introductions on the first tee!  It was a very close-fought match with 2 games all square after 18 and having to continue. Eventually the East Devon 1 team won through in this very friendly but still competitive match.

Dainton Park will now play East Devon 1 in the final at Teignmouth on 28th September.

Angie Hickey the County Captain presented semi-finalist trophies to the Thurlestone and East Devon 2 teams.
