REPORT on ADULT/JUNIOR GREENSOMES COMPETITION at TORQUAY on SUNDAY MAY 13^th

The Junior Girls joined forces with parents, Grandparents or friends to contest the fourth adult/junior greensomes event played at Torquay on Sunday May 13^th.

The winners, with an impressive 44 points, were Bethany Baker (h’cap 37)from Tiverton Golf club playing with her Grandfather ,10 handicapper John Phripp. Bethany and John just managed to pip Roxy Gillingham and her father Tim, who play at East Devon G.C,  into second place.

All of the 28 girls who played received a prize which had all been donated and included entry to this years Open, free rounds of golf, free coaching sessions with Pro golfers, to name just a few. Most of the prizes and draw prizes were collected through the hard work and time put in by Anita and Jared Spencer and our grateful thanks go to them.

The prize for the adults who played was the pleasure they received from playing with their young playing partners and everyone had a most enjoyable day. The day concluded with an excellent carvery and our thanks go to the caterers at Torquay for this.

A total of £400 was raised for the County Girls Junior Funds, a fantastic result, and the money will be  used for coaching the girls, for sponsorship and for team expenses.

Many thanks to the parents /adults who without your support, in transporting and supporting the girls, events like this would not be so successful. I hope to see everyone next year at this popular  event  and if anyone has prizes to donate they will be gratefully received!
