INTER-COUNTIES' MATCH WEEK
11th - 15th June 2012  at Trevose Golf Club  

This year the Inter Counties Match week is being held at the championship course -Trevose Golf Club in Cornwall . Six counties meet to do battle - Dorset, Gloucestershire, Wiltshire, Cornwall ,Somerset and of course Devon. The top players from each county play for 36 holes every day for 5 days to produce the triumphant winner who then progresses to the English National Finals . This year the great honour to host these finals is at East Devon, one of Devon's top courses and this spectacular event will draw in Englands top amateurs.

The Devon County team are chosen by County Captain Hilary Greenaway, Vice Captain Barbara Cummings and selectors Jane Wayman, Sally Hicks Beach, Sue Ackland and Chris Lester. Over the winter there is County coaching for prospective squad players and their form is constantly being watched to see who the players in form are. These observations are continued through the spring, which leads up to the major of the year The Devon Championship at Saunton G.C. this year. After a gruelling 3 days of stroke and matchplay, the County team is announced then the hard work begins. The team will have more coaching sessions and will have practice rounds at Trevose to give them the best possible chance to win over the week and represent Devon in the English Finals.
